Indian top MMA star Mridul Saikia suffers a brutal KO in just 37 seconds of the first round and misses the UFC contract. This is the first defeat of an undefeated Indian prospect on Road To UFC.

The Indian prospect Mridul Saikia is ranked as a No.1 professional flyweight in South Asia by Tapology. The international promotion UFC once again searching for new talent from the Asian region and organized the Road To UFC season 4. Previously, one of the top MMA athletes Anshul Jubli and Angat Bisht represented India in the Road To UFC tournament. And Anshul Jubli won the Road To UFC and got a contract with the UFC.

Almost 32 fighters were participating in four weight-class tournaments from Asia. And in the previous three seasons of RTU, 17 fighters won the UFC contracts. And this season 4, Agulali also gets the buzz around the MMA fans with his scary KO against Mridul Saikia.

Mridul ‘Crusher’ Saikia gets KO’d by 20-year-old Agulali

In the face-off, Mridul Saikia was looking big compared to Agulali. And starting seconds of the fight Mridul’s hand was trying to set up the takedown but Agulali took the center of the cage aggressively and started pushing Mridul. And after that was a scary KO, Agulali was so quick and that counter punch was sick. Mridul was trying to clinch for the break but Agulali denied and punished Saikia very badly.

Mridul Saikia entered the octagon with an undefeated record of 8-0 with all fights finished and Agulali the rising star entered with 12-1 records.

In India, there has not been an MMA superstar yet because of the lack of support and awareness of MMA sport. The MMA sport is still growing in India. MMA athletes in India need good coaches and gyms to perform on the international stage. Also need to improve the fight IQ and striking defense for the Indian fighter to compete like UFC promotion.

Who is Agulali?

Agulali entered the contest with a 12-1 record, demonstrating a clear pattern of early finishes that pointed to his high fight IQ and finishing instincts. Against the undefeated Saikia (8-0), he not only neutralized a promising prospect but also reinforced his reputation as a precision striker with elite timing-marking him as a legitimate contender in the flyweight division’s rising talent pool.

Agulali, who trains at Enbo Fight Club in Chengdu, Sichuan, China, is set to face Namsrai Batbayer in the upcoming semifinal bout of the Road to UFC(RTU) tournament. Batbayer earned his place in the semifinals with a decisive second-round victory over Wataru Yamauchi.

From the start of the fight, Mridul was going back to the cage Agulali took the center of the cage and cut out the corner which opened the opportunity to land the punch to Saikia for Agulali. 20-year-old, Agulali likes to pressure his opponent and the same thing happened in this fight. Agulali pushed Mridul to the cage and then landed the left hook which made Mridul Saikia uncomfortable then followed up with shots and the fight was finished.

Now Agulali is going for the semi-final and is set to face his next opponent Namsrai Batbayar later this year.
