Renowned Indian MMA star Angad Bisht has confirmed his much-anticipated return to Matrix Fight Night (MFN). The fight is scheduled on MFN 17 and is set to take place in Delhi, India on 2nd August. But the opponent for this fight is still not disclosed. This fight will be the first cage entry for Angad after he participates in the Road to UFC tournament in 2024.

Angad Bisht, the famous Indian MMA fighter, has had a remarkable MMA career in Matrix Fight Night and also showcased his skills in multiple weight divisions Featherweight, Bantamweight, and Flyweight. He had secured the Flyweight title in MFN 10 by defeating Mohamed Gamal via rear-naked choke. The fight against Jacky Gahlot at MFN 3 was awarded as a “Fight of the Year” in 2019.

Angad Bisht is a well-known name in the Indian Combat Sports scene. Bisht is known for his strong wrestling and submission skills, especially rear-naked chokes. He earned a reputation as one of the hardest-hitting warriors in India’s MMA scene. Angad Bisht is widely recognized as one of the toughest competitors in Indian MMA.

MMA Fans also seen Angad overcoming setbacks and bouncing back stronger after losses. Angad also represented India in the Road To UFC season 3 in 2024.

Angad Bisht’s semifinal bout was against the South Korean fighter DongHun Choi on August 24, 2024 (IST). The semifinal fight was an exciting back-and-forth contest. In the first round of the fight, Bisht landed a powerful right hand on Choi. But in 2nd and 3rd rounds, Choi scored the knockdown and won the fight via split decision.

Bisht’s semifinal exit didn’t overshadow the fact that his performance showcased the promise of Indian talent in international MMA.

Is It a championship fight?

Angad was the flyweight champion in the promotion and he vacated the title when left the promotion to compete on the international stage. So yes, this fight in August will be the title fight and it’s most probably in the featherweight division but there is not any confirmation from the MFN promotion or Bisht related to the weight class.

Why Angad Bisht return to MFN?

Angad Bisht is in his prime and delivered good fights for the MMA fans and he wants to stay active in his prime time. If Angad performs very well in his return fight and becomes the champion again then he will have a chance to represent India again on international promotion like the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) as Angad’s management already has many fighters in UFC.

Is It still possible to see Angad Bisht in UFC?

Angad delivered a good fight in Road To UFC 2024 and impressed the judges. He shows his striking and ground game on the international stage. So maybe Angad will have the chance from the UFC for the next Road To UFC tournament and the possibility to represent India again in the UFC.
